An Eataly is opening in Soho: Here’s what we know

Last fall, word got out that Eataly, the giant Italian food hall that first debuted in New York’s Flatiron District back in 2010, had signed a lease in Soho at 200 Lafayette Street. Given the popularity of the destination, which houses both grocery shops and restaurants offering dine-in services and grab-and-go options, the news was met with excitement by locals.

Fast-forward a year and Tribeca Citizen reports that signs are officially up at the address—a fact that likely symbolizes the imminent opening of the new destination.

Here is what we know about it so far.

Where is the new Eataly opening?

The new Eataly is set to open at the base of 200 Lafayette Street at the northeast corner of Broome Street in the Soho neighborhood of downtown Manhattan. Tribeca Citizen reports that the market will take over “18,000 square feet on the ground floor and lower levels of the space.”

When is the new Eataly opening?

No official opening date has yet been reported but, given that the space's windows are already featuring signs of what's to come, we expect the new food hall to welcome shoppers pretty soon.

What can I buy inside the new Eataly?

We expect the new Eataly to sell the same sort of fare that is offered at the other two locations of the Italian market.

On offer are tons of straight-from-Italy foods, plus fresh cheeses and salumi (that is: deli-like meats) from different stands, produce, kitchen products and recipe books, each item intrinsically connected to the European country.

The Flatiron location of Eataly is also home to a variety of different dine-in restaurants, like Bar Milano, La Pizza & La Pasta and Il Pesce. The destination also operates a fabulous rooftop restaurant featuring seasonally changing decor that's a must-see at all times of the year and hosts exciting culinary classes catering to all types of cooks.

The World Trade Center location of Eataly offers similar gastronomic options.

What other Eataly locations are already open in New York?

The original New York location of Eataly, which is still in operation, is at 200 Fifth Avenue, right by Madison Square Park.

In the summer of 2016, Eataly Downtown, a bread-themed branch of the market, opened on the third floor of 4 World Trade Center at 101 Liberty Street by the Financial District.
