These NYC streets will go car-free for Halloween
New York City Mayor Eric Adams and New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez announced that nearly 100 streets and plazas around New York City will go car-free in the next few days, offering city dwellers the chance to safely celebrate Halloween all across town.
This will be the second installment of the Trick or Streets program, following last year's successful installation.
In addition to shutting down traffic in certain neighborhoods, this year, the DOT will also produce 15 special events at various locations in the five boroughs—think special performances, expanded public space for trick or treating opportunities and more.
