NYC residents can now visit the Vessel at Hudson Yards for free
New Yorkers will again be able to visit the giant hive-like sculpture at Hudson Yards for free on Thursdays.
Snagging tickets is pretty easy: on the last Friday of every month at 9am, passes are made available for the following month right here, with proof of an NYC ID. A limited number of free, day-of tickets will also be up for grabs every Thursday on that same website.

“Vessel is one of the most unique sights in New York City and we are proud to ensure all New Yorkers can experience it,” said Andy Rosen, Chief Operating Officer at Hudson Yards, in a statement. “We had an overwhelming response from locals interested in visiting Vessel last year, and expect that number to grow with new day-of reservations and monthly ticket drops designed to make it easier for New Yorkers to book closer to their planned visit.”
The 60-ton art installation was designed by British architect Thomas Heatherwick, originally marketed as New York's version of Paris' Eiffel Tower. But the Vessel quickly became the subject of derision by many who criticized how it looks, its purpose and the safety measure put in place. In fact, the destination debuted back in 2019 but temporarily closed in 2021 following a string of suicides. It opened back up in October last year with new safety barriers—floor-to-ceiling steel mesh—in place on most levels, meant to withstand the outdoor elements.
