These are the loudest neighborhoods in NYC

No matter the time of day or the neighborhood, New York City is always loud. So, when reviewing 311 data about the areas with the most noise complaints, we can’t help but wonder—just how loud can it really get?

According to the data, New Yorkers submitted a total of 753,222 noise complaints to 311 last year and 10% of them came from Bronx Community District 12, making neighborhoods like Eastchester, Olinville, Williamsbridge and Woodlawn some of the loudest in town.

Manhattan Community District 12, which encompasses Inwood and Washington Heights, among other areas, was the source of 31,982 complaints last year, making it the second loudest district in NYC.

According to the data, the top five list was rounded out by Manhattan District 7 (Lincoln Square, Upper West Side), Manhattan District 10 (Central Harlem) and Brooklyn District 1, which includes Greenpoint and Williamsburg.

We'd like to point out that, although we're the first to criticize midtown Manhattan (Times Square, to be precise), the neighborhood isn't even mentioned in the available data from last year. Perhaps, it's time to consider a move now that 10,000 new homes might be built in the area?

8. Bronx District 7 (Bedford Park, Fordham, Jerome Park, Kingsbridge Heights, Norwood and University Heights)
