‘The Devil Wears Prada’ loft is now on the market for $8.9 million
The Devil Wears Prada served as a core memory for a lot of us growing up. The iconic 2006 movie starring Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci gave us insight into the brutal-yet-glossy publishing world led by Streep’s character, Miranda Priestly.
Well, one of the settings used in that film is now on sale for a cool $8.9 million, giving us all a chance to reminisce and dream about what it might be like to live like the other half in that shiny world.

You might recognize this loft (at Soho’s 56 Crosby Street, unit 3A) as the home of fictional designer James Holt (Daniel Sunjata) from the scene where Andy (Anne Hathaway) attends a glamorous party and meets her new love interest, Christian Thompson (Simon Baker).
56 Crosby Street was originally part of a department store in the early 1900s before it was used as a storage warehouse, then finally converted to a condominium development in 1999, according to the listing with Brown Harris Stevens and Luxury Portfolio International.
But it’s apparently also a home with a lot of fashion history—it was owned and custom-designed by founders of The Apartment, America’s first-ever concept design store and has been a center for creative gatherings that launched emerging designers and exclusive dinners by renowned chefs, including Michelin-starred Michel Bras.
It features 13-foot ceilings; original Corinthian columns; massive west-facing windows that at 10 feet high; a custom-made Boffi kitchen by renowned designer Marc Sadler; a master suite with a curved, climbable walk-in wardrobe, a marble ensuite bathroom, a soaking tub and and a shower; handmade fireplace masonry; floating bookcases and custom metalwork.
It’s set inside a boutique building with full-time door staff, an elevator that needs a key and sits right on a historic cobblestone street from Soho’s shopping and dining. What more could a high-powered fashion designer want?
