Broadway fans who missed out on tickets to the sold-out Rent 30th anniversary concert just got some very good news: The one-night-only event will stream live from the Richard Rodgers Theatre this fall.

RECOMMENDED: 'Rent' is coming back to Broadway for one night only later this year

After tickets vanished almost immediately for the October 26 benefit concert, producers announced that the performance will now be available via livestream, giving theater kids everywhere a chance to ugly cry through “Seasons of Love” from the comfort of their apartments while supporting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. (BC/EFA produces alongside Baseline Theatrical founder Andy Jones.)

The concert celebrates 30 years of Jonathan Larson’s beloved musical, which opened on Broadway in 1996 and permanently changed what Broadway sounded like. The gala performance will reunite original cast members alongside additional special guests yet to be announced. Original director Michael Greif returns, as well as music director Tim Weil and the original band: Kenny Brescia, Stephanie Mack, Jeff Potter and Daniel A. Weiss.

“Few works have captured the urgency, humanity, and resilience of a generation like Rent,” Broadway Cares Executive Director Danny Whitman said in a statement. “Jonathan Larson provided a voice to communities and reminded us all of the power of compassion, care, and showing up for one another. We are proud to carry that legacy forward every day, providing lifesaving meals, medication, health care, and hope to people living with HIV/AIDS and other critical illnesses across the country. And through this extraordinary anniversary concert, that spirit of collaboration will translate into even more care and critical support for those who need it most today.”

First opening on Broadway in 1996 at the Nederlander Theatre, Rent went on to become a cultural phenomenon, becoming one of just a handful of musicals to win both the Pulitzer and the Tony Award for Best Musical. The show—which launched the careers of Taye Diggs, Idina Menzel, Anthony Rapp and others—ended up running for 12 years.

The anniversary concert will take place at the Richard Rodgers Theatre—current home of Hamilton—on Monday, October 26. Livestream tickets are now available through Broadway Cares by clicking here.
