Kids will be able to ride the NY Waterway ferry for free this summer!

NY Waterway has brought back its popular Kids Ride Free promotion, meaning children under 12 can hop aboard its ferries for free through Labor Day.
The offer runs now through Monday, September 7, and covers all regular NY Waterway ferry routes between New Jersey and Manhattan, excluding Metro-North ferry routes. Each paying adult can bring up to two children under 12 at no extra cost and there's no special ticket required for kids. (Even better, there's no cap on how many times families can use the promotion during the summer.)
That's particularly good news for anyone looking to swap bumper-to-bumper tunnel traffic for breezy rides across the Hudson. Whether you're heading into the city for a museum day or a Broadway matinee, the ferry is arguably one of the most scenic ways to arrive and the ride itself is often just as much fun as the destination.
Once in Manhattan, riders can then use NY Waterway's free shuttle buses, which connect ferry terminals with neighborhoods throughout Midtown and Downtown. The buses can be tracked in real time through the free NY Waterway app.
The promotion applies to all nine of NY Waterway's New Jersey ferry terminals, including Hoboken, Jersey City, Weehawken, Edgewater and South Amboy. Several terminals offer low-cost parking, while South Amboy provides free parking. Many terminals are also accessible via NJ Transit rail and bus service, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail and connecting NY Waterway buses.
