New York spent the summer celebrating a championship. Now comes the jewelry. The Knicks return to Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, October 20, for their home opener against the Philadelphia 76ers, with a ring ceremony and championship banner raising giving fans plenty to cheer about before tipoff.

After the team’s first title in 53 years, watching this one alone would feel a little anticlimactic—but you can join the opening-night commotion at bars near the Garden or head downtown for watch parties with DJs, giveaways and screens big enough to properly appreciate the hardware. Here's everything to know ahead of tomorrow's game.

For the closest option, start at Mustang Harry’s at 352 Seventh Avenue, just steps from MSG. The Irish sports bar has more than 20 high-definition TVs, surround sound and a full food-and-drink menu. It’s a convenient spot to fuel up before heading into the arena or settle in nearby to watch the game.

A few blocks northeast, Clinton Hall’s location at 16 West 36th Street offers another Midtown option, with indoor and outdoor seating, beer, cocktails and a menu featuring smashed burgers, wings and giant pretzels.

For a more programmed party, head south to Slate at 54 West 21st Street, where Knicks Fan TV is hosting a 21-and-over gathering. Doors open at 5:30pm, followed by the ceremony at 6:30pm and tipoff at 7pm. Expect live game audio, DJ Eric L Beats during commercials and quarterly raffles, with prizes including Knicks merchandise and a championship pendant. General admission includes a raffle ticket; table reservations are also available.

Further downtown, SOB’s at 204 Varick Street is going big with a 16-by-18-foot LED wall and four additional screens. Billy June hosts, DJ Juanyto supplies the music and doors open at 5:30pm. Entry is free with an RSVP for guests 21 and older, but seating is first-come, first-served and requires a two-drink minimum or a $30 food-and-beverage purchase per person.

You can also turn opening night into an afternoon outing at Time Out Market Union Square. Its Ring Day celebration starts at 3pm, with DJs, basketball apparel, a photography gallery, fan contests and raffles before the Knicks game. Seating and viewing areas are first-come, first-served.

No matter where you land, arrive before the advertised 6:30pm ceremony. After all, New York waited more than half a century for this banner!
